Did you ever watch the first PhD Comic movie? If you haven’t, you can watch it for free until the end of the month over at phdmovie.com But, more importantly, they’re currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise enough money to do a sequel.
I watched the movie for the first time a few days ago. It wasn’t the most fantastic movie I’ve ever seen, but it does stay pretty true to the comics and it was interesting to see how they attempted to translate the comic strip to live action. Also, it’s only an hour long, so it doesn’t actually waste a lot of your time to watch it. And very easy to make it through the whole thing in one sitting.
And I will admit I haven’t contributed to the Kickstarter campaign yet. But they have some pretty cool rewards, and the one that’s tempting me (should I find a free $75 lying around) is to have Jorge Cham draw a PhD style doodle portrait of you based on your academic homepage pic. I might have to cave and just get this one done (and then go put a picture up on my homepage, since I don’t have one there.
They’re two weeks away from their deadline and still about $34,000 short of their goal. So if you have some spare cash and are looking for a fun grad school related goodie, you should head over and check it out. And at the very least, I’m sure you can find an hour to watch the movie.
